The latest release includes important response-related changes. We published the first version of the weekly report and also started displaying info from our smart detection process in the new Workspace section 😉👍. There are follow-up upgrades planned for both areas during October, so feel free to check our Coming soon article.

What’s new

  • Safetica HUB:
    • Crucial info is displayed on the Dashboard in the form of tiles. You will see there:
      • The total number of your registered customers (with TRIAL, FULL, or NFR licenses)
      • The total number of enrolled endpoints across all your customers
      • The total number of secured users across all your customers (in the last 30 days)
      • The total number of issues with Safetica installations
      • The total number of detected threats across all your customers (in the last 7 days)
  • Safetica NXT:
    • Receive a weekly report with key information from the last 7 days (can be activated via Profile > Email notifications). The report includes info about:
      • Detected threats per each threat level
      • Detected sensitive data per individual data categories
      • Detected events per investigation filter

    • Our smart threat detection received an additional boost with a new smart module aimed at External devices (USB). Safetica NXT will now analyze all external devices (e.g. USB keys) and based on their usage patterns assign some of them to a virtual "safe zone". All file operations involving such safe devices will be evaluated as less risky.
    • Results from smart threat detection are now displayed in the Workspace section. It presents individual resources with the option to adjust the scope of the safe zone. At the beginning, Workspace will contain only web domains, later we will also add email domains and external devices (USB).

    • Configure data category definitions with more advanced conditions:
      • You can now add multiple keywords into the Keyword condition
      • The list of built-in algorithms includes three new (updated) templates:
        • National ID from Brazil
        • National ID from South Africa
        • Healthcare dictionaries in English (updated template - newly without US social security number)
  • BUG fixes:

Release date September 21, 2021

We have plenty of updates in this release 🎉. Safetica NXT got a beautiful brand new design and we also added several useful features to our detection process 👍.

What’s new

  • Safetica HUB:
    • New design and branding released

  • Safetica NXT:
    • New design and branding released

    • New version of MS WINDOWS installer (10.0.22) is available. It delivers significant improvements to the auditing process and content scanning capabilities. Safetica NXT now scans only specific, best-practice file types: txt, .xml, .html, .htm, .rtf, .zip, .csv, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .docm, .xls, .xlsx, .xlsm, .ppt, .pptx, .pptm, .pps, .ppsx, .ppsm, .msg, .eml, .one, .odt, .ods, .odp, .md, .epub.
    • Our smart detection technology received an additional boost with a new module aimed at Emails. Safetica will now distinguish which emails are sent within a virtual "safe zone" and evaluate those as less risky. The purpose of this feature is to treat internal emails sent within the organization as less risky than those which are leaving the company.
    • User can now audit the Remote desktop channel via the destination type RDP.

    • User can access quick actions related to events via a more visible action button available in the Risk level column.

    • In the Sensitive data section, users can now create and delete data categories (both their own and default). They can maintain up to 100 categories in total.

    • In the Sensitive data section, data category configuration windows were updated to display more definitions, and thus improve usability. The saving/editing process was modified on the global (category) level.

    • Events in DEMO environments are automatically refreshed every 24 hours, so they never get old. The user who regularly interacts with the DEMO environment won't lose any console settings but will get the same experience with filtered data regardless of a product release or actual time.

BUG fixes

  • N/A

Release date August 31, 2021

In today's release, we bring several useful feature changes to our detection of sensitive data 👍

What’s new

  • Safetica NXT:
    • When configuring a data category, you can use a new condition type called Regular expression that makes it possible to search for various strings and patterns via a sequence of symbols and characters. Example of a regular expression aimed at Netherlands VAT ID: (/^(NL)(\d{9}B\d{2}$)/i)

    • Improved sensitive data labels in the Data Security section. All applied labels can also be viewed in event detail.

    • Users can now choose to overwrite the default risk level of individual events (as determined by our pre-configured threat policies). This can help you eliminate specific false positives without making exceptions for similar future events.

BUG fixes

  • Small issues related to order management and integration with Safetica's partner system
  • Issue in the processing of newly created detection rule and user risk evaluation
  • Issue in user risk re-calculation process

Release date August 24, 2021

In today's release, we bring subscription management automation for Safetica HUB and small improvements to our content scanning technology.

What’s new

  • Safetica HUB:
    • When registering new customers, you can select the desired license type (DEMO, TRIAL, FULL, or NFR). The respective record is created automatically in Safetica backend (no further communication with the Safetica Team is needed). Info about license type is displayed in customer overview for every registered or new customer.

  • Safetica NXT:
    • New version of macOS installer (9.9) is available - you can now fully leverage troubleshooting of problematic endpoints with either standard or enhanced level of logging. This new version also supports aggregation of mass file transfers.
    • Enhanced tooltips for risky events in Data security > Overview with more detailed info about criteria related to detection policy rules and smart scanning.

    • Improved calculation of user risk:

      • User risk is now based on the user’s ratio of high risk vs all file operations and the average count of high-risk operations in the company

      • User risk is calculated using activity data from the last 30 days

Release date August 3, 2021

In today's release we bring more improvements to our content scanning technology and a brand new user role for customers.

What’s new

  • Safetica NXT:
    • You can now give direct access to Safetica NXT to selected customer representatives via a special Customer role. The customer will be able to use all the features of Safetica NXT and browse the data from their company. They will not be able to access Safetica NXT of other customers nor the multi-tenant Safetica HUB.
    • You can now fine-tune the pre-configured data categories using keywords. With their help, you can decrease the number of false positives, or extend the scope of any data category by creating custom definitions with keywords.

  • Safetica HUB:
    • After login, you are now forwarded to the Dashboard, where you will find the links to Safetica Knowledge Base and What's new and the option to add new customers.

  • Safetica HUB & NXT:
    • You can now read basic info about each console on their login pages.

Release date July 20, 2021

Today we release a new version of Safetica NXT installer with many improvements and bug fixes. So don't forget to update all your endpoints 😜 This release also includes several feature changes. You can check upcoming changes here.

What’s new

  • Safetica NXT:
    • You can now edit data categories to adjust or improve the detection of sensitive content. There are two options:

                          1. make the scope of a data category broader by adding a new definition

                          2. refine any of the definitions by adding extra conditions

    • Improved investigation filters – you can now easily spot when there is a new detection of a high risk event among the filters.

    • All endpoint users are now scored based on their recent file activity. This is the first step towards early detection and prevention of suspicious behavior. Generally speaking, user risk score is derived from 2 factors:

                               1. user’s file activity from the past month

                               2. the degree of deviation when compared to the file activity of their peers in the organization.

    • All the metrics on the dashboard are now subject to the date filter. By default, you will see the status from previous 7 days, but this can be changed to any arbitrary date range.

    • We are introducing a new risk indicator related to time of each event. If a certain event happens during a highly unusual time of day, it will be projected in the final risk level (risk will increase for this event).
    • Data category can be added as another (optional) criteria for detection rules. This way, you can set the highest risk level to events which include sensitive content of a particular data category.

Release date June 22, 2021

Today we release a new version of Safetica NXT installer with many improvements and bug fixes. So don't forget to update all your endpoints 😜 This release also includes several feature changes. You can check the upcoming changes here.

What’s new

  • Safetica NXT:
    • User can activate email notifications for each risk level separately

    • User can update data via the Refresh button on most of the pages

    • Safetica NXT automatically increases risk level when sensitive content is found.

    • Safetica NXT automatically evaluates destination domains for web uploads to see whether they are frequently used within the company. Popular web domains are usually part of a company "safe zone", so Safetica NXT decreases their risk level accordingly. In this case, the risk level tooltip will include the following note: The target domain for this operation was identified as not risky (frequent usage by many endpoints).

Release date June 1, 2021
