The encryption features in Safetica use BitLocker functionality, which is available in Windows 7 Enterprise, and all versions of Windows 8 and newer.
Information in this article applies to Safetica ONE 10 or older.
There are two ways to encrypt external devices - locally on the server, or remotely on the clients:
Encrypting USB drives on the server
- Open Safetica Management Console as an Administrator (right-click - Run as Administrator).
- Go to Protection > Bitlocker Devices
- Connect the USB drive to the computer (server).
- Set Action to Encrypt.
- Select a user or a group in the user tree in the left part of the window, and set Assign to Assigned.
Note: the USB drive will be assigned, i.e. accessible only for this user/group.
Encrypting USB drives on the clients in your network
- Open Safetica Management Console as an Administrator (right-click - Run as Administrator).
- Go to Protection > Bitlocker Devices
- Select a user or a group in the user tree in the left part of the window, and set Assign to Assigned.
- Note: the USB drive will be assigned, i.e. accessible only for this user/group.
- Set Action to Encrypt. The device will be silently encrypted on the client as soon as it is inserted into the computer.
