You might need to move a database backup archive due to insufficient space, server migration, etc. To do so and at the same time maintain the possibility to connect the archives to Safetica Management Console, a specific procedure must be followed.
Information in this article applies to Safetica ONE 10 or older.
To move archives, first create the destination folder and follow these steps:
- Right-click the folder > Properties > Security.
- Set Full control permissions for Authenticated Users and SQL Service Account*(NT SERVICE\ServiceName) for the destination folder.
-
Move selected archives into the destination folder.
-
Open Safetica Management Console and navigate to Maintenance > Database management > Archives
-
Remove the archives which were moved to the new location.
-
Import archives from the new location.
*To find the Service Name, open services.msc and right-click SQLServer > Properties.
In some specific cases, the archive will not attach to the database automatically and instead of connecting the archive, nothing will happen.
This can be fixed by attaching the archive manually to the MS SQL Management service:
-
Install SQL Management Studio and connect to the database via admin account.
-
Right-click Databases > Attach…
-
Click Add…, select the archive, and click OK.
-
Open Safetica Management Console and navigate to Maintenance > Database management > Archives
-
Click View content for the respective archive.
-
Now you can view the records and Close the archive once done.
