System requirements and compatibility overview

This article provides a comprehensive overview system requirements for server and protected devices. Understanding these requirements will help you make the most out of our product and ensure a seamless experience.

Device requirements for Safetica

  • 2.4 GHz quad-core processor

  • 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended)

  • 8 GB of available disk space (20 GB recommended)

✍️Safetica Client needs the following packages to work correctly.

They are installed automatically when installing Safetica Client via the installer available in Safetica console > Devices. You might need to install them manually if you are experiencing problems during Safetica Client installation.


Supported device operating systems

❗Arm-based Windows operating systems are not supported

  • Windows 10 (64-bit) with all Security Patches (we support the latest 2 Windows 10 versions, i.e. 22H2 and 21H2)
  • Windows 11 (64-bit) with all Security Patches
  • macOS 12 and newer
  • Windows Server 2019 (version 20H2)

Microsoft does not support operating systems older than Windows 10, so they should not be used for security reasons.

Safetica Client version

Safetica Client 10.5 or newer (10.4 can also be used but with limited support - e.g. version 10.4 does not support new external device policies).

Supported web browsers

Safetica features are fully supported in the following web browsers. They are also regularly tested with the latest publicly available version.

🪟Windows: Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera, Yandex

🍏macOS: Safari, Google Chrome

Browsers for mobile devices may not be fully supported.

Supported email clients

✍️Safetica analyses sensitive content in outgoing files and bodies of emails sent from supported desktop email clients. 

🪟Windows

  • On devices with Safetica Client: Classic Outlook (2016-2021)
  • With our Outlook protection activated: Outlook on the web, Outlook for Windows (desktop version 2206 (Build 15330.20196) and newer

❗Please do not install the MAPI add-in for Outlook 2013 and older. MAPI add-in is only supported for Outlook 2016 and newer.

🍏macOS

  • On devices with Safetica Client: Apple Mail app
  • With our Outlook protection activated: Outlook for Mac (desktop version 16.65.827.0 and newer)

Other email clients might be supported via SMTP/POP3/IMAP protocols. For specific info, please contact Safetica Support.

Examples of unsupported email clients: Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail.

 

Supported instant messengers

🪟Windows: Microsoft Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, Microsoft Skype, Microsoft Skype for Business (only desktop app), Telegram, Viber, Facebook Messanger

Supported clouds

🪟Windows: OneDrive Personal, OneDrive Business, SharePoint, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box (restrictions are applied to synchronized folders on local disk and to uploads to corresponding websites)

🍏macOS: iCloud, OneDrive Personal, OneDrive Business, SharePoint, Google Drive, Dropbox (restrictions are applied to synchronized folders on local disk)

 

On-premises hosting: Server requirements for Safetica

In order to ensure smooth performance and the best experience, we recommend prior consultation of the hardware requirements with our technical consultant.

* For more than 2000 seats, we recommend running the Safetica Server and SQL database on separate servers.

**For more than 5000 seats, please contact us for hardware requirements.

*** Hard drive requirements take into consideration the space needed for the database and backups. Before updating to a newer version, free space on the drive with the transaction protocol should be at least five times the current size of the database.

Free ports 

The following ports must be available for Safetica to work correctly:

  • 4443
  • 4444

The server also needs to have firewall exceptions on the following ports:

  • 1433 (Safetica Server - MS SQL, outbound),
  • 4438 (Safetica Server - Safetica Client, out/inbound),
  • 4441 (Safetica Server - Safetica console, out/inbound),
  • 4442 (for updates, inbound). 

 

Cloud hosting: Required firewall exceptions
