Introduction
✍️Learn more about protecting file sharing in M365 here.
If an end user shares a file that violates one of your company's policies, the sharing may be automatically canceled, and the user will also receive an email notification about this cancellation.
For end users: Contact the admin for policy adjustment
If you receive an email notification stating that the sharing of your file was canceled, it indicates that the file violated a company policy.
✍️If you believe that the file sharing was legitimate, you can contact the admin and ask them to review and adjust the policy settings.
For admins: Review the policy
If an end user reports that the sharing of their file was canceled for what they believe is a legitimate sharing scenario, consider:
- reviewing the respective policy settings
- if necessary, adjust or disable the policy to accommodate legitimate sharing scenarios
Deactivating the policy prevents automatic unsharing and email notifications for future occurrences.
